Hanidoku...

Has anyone else come across this one before? I've just been doing one or two of the isodoku puzzles in the variety book and they reminded me very much of hanidoku puzzles. They are shaped like hexagons, with hexagonal cells, the difference being that in the incomplete rows (i.e. where there may be only 4, 5, 6, 7, cells etc in a row, the numbers in those rows must be consecutive e.g. 1 - 4, or 2 - 5 , 3 - 6 etc and not just 4 random numbers. Quite tricky little things but very enjoyable!

Hi Christine

I have come across hanidoku once or twice I think in a take a break title or one of those sorts of mixed puzzle magazines in the shops.

But literally once or twice! As you say they are quite similar to isosudoku puzzles apart from the additional restriction on the partial regions having to contain sequential digits which makes them a little bit easier than isosudoku.

I saw this in a puzzle magazine in Sainsburys, I think it was a sudoku variety magazine. It was quite dull!

I have come across this in one magazine in the shops, I think there is a mag that has a couple of these per issue.

I have solved them occasionally but I can't say they are a particular favourite or something I look out for!
