Little Brainteaser...

Here is a little brainteaser that I came across in a book - it's not the best but amused me for a few seconds:

I can speak Swedish. But don't take me on holiday with you to Stockholm - I can't speak a word of Swedish.

Can you explain how this sentence is consistent?

Hi Stacey

I think this must be because "can" can mean something you are physically capable of doing and also something that you are actually currently able to do.

So those two meanings of can enable both of those statements to be true.

Well done Gemma

That one has stumped a few other people I have tried it on, all those puzzles must be doing you some good
