This is a puzzle type in which you must locate where 'mines' are hidden in the grid by means of clues in some cells that indicate how many adjacent cells (including diagonally touching cells) contain bombs.
You might have played a similar game on windows PC's in the past.
Alternatively, if you've played mosaic puzzles then they're essentially the same thing except in that case they lead to a picture being formed and the square that contains a clue itself can be shaded. But basically the logic is the same.
