Number Square Magazine - Just Added!...

Hi everyone

In response to requests that have been made, we've just added a magazine of Number Square puzzles here:

http://www.puzzle-magazine.com/number-square-magazine.php

This is a simple little maths puzzle that is very enjoyable: you simply have to place 1 - 9 once in the empty cells in order to complete the maths sums, completing the sums from left to right or top to bottom.

The magazine contains 100 puzzles and has easy, medium and hard puzzles, so hopefully there's something for everyone.

If you like maths puzzles, then we hope you enjoy the magazine

Thanks very much for adding a number square magazine, I have tried this puzzle a few times in the past on the occasions I've seen it in variety puzzle magazines and always enjoyed it.

I quite like puzzles at the moment where they can be solved in ten minutes or less as I find myself less able to concentrate on really hard, long solves at the moment for some reason!

I quite like number squares as simple pieces of logic you can use to do with the sums periodically reveal themselves to you and these strategies can really help make headway with the puzzles, particularly as once you've placed the first number or two the rest often solves itself quite nicely.

Have downloaded this magazine and look forward to solving the puzzles

I've just downloaded this magazine too. It's not a puzzle I've had much experience of. I've tried a couple which I've seen in another publication and they seem to be deceptively tricky, so 'm looking forward to starting with the easy ones and working through to the difficult ones in the hope of picking up a few strategies along the way!

Hope you both enjoy the number square magazine, thanks for downloading it

It definitely helps to use a few simple techniques to help narrow down the options when solving these puzzles.

For instance if both sums in a row/column are multiplications and the total is odd then you know all three numbers must be odd: useful when that means they must be 1,3,5,7,9 and can't be 2,4,6,8!

Yes I am enjoying it so far.

It is interesting how there are quite a few ways you can narrow down the results of sums (or the numbers in them) just by looking at the order of the operations and the final number created.

You do get better and quicker the more of these you solve Although a couple of times I may have got there by luck, typically think "hmm... there's probably only one way to make 336 with 1 - 9 so I'll shove it in!" and it usually works
