Ensaimada Circle Sudoku Strategy
We don't have a circle sudoku or ensaimada puzzles magazine yet at the site... but we do have lots of other puzzle magazines for you to enjoy!
You may well have never played circle sudoku or ensaimada before. If not, take a look at the puzzle to the right. You'll see that it is played on a circular grid of a range of different sizes. This particular puzzle has the numbers 1 - 8 that must be placed once in each of the eight concentric circles of increasing size and also once in each of the eight spokes.
Sometimes there are other variants of this puzzle that may have an additional region if it's a 9x9 puzzle, which will be clearly indicated if that is the case, and other variants do not allow values to be consecutive between adjacent cells in this puzzle. This puzzle is the equivalent of an 8x8 standard sudoku with two regions: the rows and the columns, but displayed in circular format.
So what solving tips are there for ensaimada? Well, actually the key thing is that you simply use standard sudoku rules, but you apply them to the two regions in this puzzle. The hardest part is ensuring that your eye doesn't wander between different regions, so you should be particularly careful with your pencilmarks and checking you are looking at the correct region, this is because it is not as easy for your eye to scan around circles as it is to look at straight lines such as rows and columns.
Therefore the rules you will mainly use are to see if there is a number that can only go in one place in a spoke or concentric circle, and also to look at the options for a particular 'cell' and if there is only one option then that can be placed. These are the only rules that are needed to solve most ensaimada puzzles, or circle sudoku, but sometimes you may need some of the harder rules too such as looking at sets. But really this is juat a variant of sudoku in visual display rather than what you need to do to solve the puzzle.
That's it for ensaimada puzzles! Why not now purchase a puzzle magazine from one of the great selection of puzzles we have here at Puzzle Magazines?
