I really like battleships, definitely my favourite puzzle!
The thing is it's another one of those that is pretty tricky to find in quantity.
There are quite a few compilation magazines that have one or two in each issue, but I do those first in the magazine and then am left waiting a couple of months for the next issue with another couple.
It is also hard to find battleships that have interesting solving logic but are also fair... there have been some that are far too simple to even be worth doing whilst some of the bigger ones it looks like you have to make an educated guess and hope it works out.
Really good battleships puzzles that are difficult but fair - that you can always work out your next move by a bit of careful thinking - are hard to come across.
The other thing with battleships that can be frustrating is that different publishers feel free to use their own rules and not necessarily tell you what they are! In the last couple of weeks alone I've done battleships where ships can touch diagonally but not horizontally or vertically, ones where they can't touch at all, and even ones where there are no limits at all and ships can all touch - it is impossible to do that many as you get confused. I wish publishers would be consistent with their battleships rules.
I guess I'm not expecting a battleships magazine on here, but it would be good if there could be one with some in... I'll post that in the puzzle ideas bit now I think!
Consecutive Sudoku Rules The rules of this unusual sudoku variant are explained in this video - they can be really fun to solve but you need to understand what the bars between squares mean and that all are shown...
