Next up in my list of sudoku variants that you sometimes see is 3D sudoku.
This particular puzzle type is one of the most dull variants that there is - pretending to have a 3D sudoku on paper adds nothing of interest to the solving mix and if anything is just a bit tedious as you have to pretend to look around corners, as it were, of a cube.
There are some more fun variants of cube sudoku or 3D sudoku though whereby at least there are a range of different patterns and shapes available so at least with that every puzzle is different in a similar manner to what you find with jigsaw sudoku - each grid pattern is different and plays different to other grid patterns.
However overall it is not much of a fun variant, many find it confusing - particularly if not printed in colour, and additionally it is probably why it is not seen in many places!
