If you've not come across this then it is just a variation on jigsaw sudoku, but it can make some nice puzzles.
Whereas in jigsaw sudoku you must be able to move from each cell to the next in each region by making a up/down or left/right move, in chain link sudoku the cells in a region may be diagonally adjacent.
