I have been trying to take a look at puzzles that I dismissed as too dull in the past, and have been taking another look at kakuro.
Although with effort I can generally finish most puzzles, I'm afraid I haven't changed my opinion, they really do seem quite dull to solve: almost mechanical, in that I just reduce the range of values with ease or great difficulty... I don't feel any "joy" or particular insights that can be used when solving the puzzles like the sudden "aha!" moment you can get with various other types of puzzles, like suddenly working out the loop must go a certain way in slitherlink, say.
I thought I would ask if it is just me or whether other people also find kakuro quite dull? Because, after sudoku, it actually seems to be the most popularly published 'logic puzzle' in the UK yet there seem to be many far more fun and accessible logic type puzzles out there.
