Making good progress with the consecutive sudoku puzzles and thought I would post a couple of tips in here.
The first thing that is important to remember is that if two cells are not marked as consecutive in value then they are not consecutive. So when you place a value in one of those cells then you know the adjacent cells are not consecutive. For instance if you place a 6 then you know an adjacent cell is not 5,6,7 but must be 1,2,3,4,8,9.
The second other important difference to normal sudoku is considering the chains of consecutive values. This can lead to you being able to remove a surprising number of candidates by looking across several linked cells. For instance if one cell has a 3 and the cell next to that is consecutive with it then you know that cell is either 2 or 4. If that in turn is adjacent again to the cell next to it in the same region , then that cell can be only 1 or 5 (remember 3 is already placed in this region).
This is how consecutive information can reduce the number of given cells right down and introduces some really fun solving logic
